There are two important factors to consider in the installation of the cooling system in your wine cellar: sizing and quality. Failure to do so will result in a wrong choice of refrigeration system. Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey and M&M Cellar Systems worked together to fix the cooling system of a cabinet wine cellar in Beverly Hills, California.

Why Hire a Trusted Contractor in New Jersey for Your Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Project

Wine easily deteriorates when stored in poor conditions. It must be kept in a stable environment to preserve its desirable characteristics for many years to come. Choosing the correct climate-control system for your wine room requires technical skills and knowledge. You can’t just use a regular air conditioning system for a home.

At Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey, our wine cellar cooling installation team is composed of trained and experienced staff. We always see to it that we make a careful assessment before starting the wine room construction. This process helps us determine the most suitable components for each project.

The wine cooling system plays a significant role in proper wine storage. You need an expert to ensure that it is of the correct size and high quality.

Correct Sizing and Choosing a High-Quality Wine Refrigeration System

The wrong size of cooling unit will result in failure to achieve the optimum conditions required for the proper aging of your favorite wines. At Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey, we always make sure that the correct size of cooling unit is installed in our client’s wine room.

To achieve this, we perform a heat load calculation to determine the correct BTU (British Thermal Unit) needed. BTU is the unit used to measure the amount of thermal energy required to raise the temperature of 1 lb. of liquid water by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

Another factor to consider when choosing the type of wine refrigeration unit is the quality. Custom Wine Cellars Los Angeles offers only the best quality climate-control systems from trusted manufacturers, like M&M Cellar Systems.

Wine Cellar Cooling Installation Project by Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey and M&M Cellar Systems

A homeowner in Beverly Hills invested in a custom wine cellar cabinet located in the living area.  Later, he found out that the wine refrigeration unit installed by the previous contractor was not of the right size. He decided to contact us to seek help before it was too late to save his collection.

3 Types of Wine Cellar Cooling Systems Offered by Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey

With different types of refrigeration systems, it is best to be knowledgeable about each type and to hire an expert to help you choose the unit that suits your needs. At Custom Wine Cellars New Jersey, we have self-contained, ductless split, and ducted split wine cooling systems.

Self-Contained Refrigeration System

If you are a wine collector who is looking for a budget-savvy cooling solution, the self-contained wine cooling unit is the ideal option for you. It is easy to install compared to other types of climate-control systems. You do not have to hire an HVAC technician because you can install the unit alone or with the help of someone you know. This means that you do not have to pay for the professional fee of a professional.

Keep in mind though, that you will need an adjacent room that is well ventilated to exhaust hot air. The room can be a garage, mechanical room, or basement. The room must be of the same size as your wine cellar.

For maximum efficiency, the self-contained wine refrigeration system utilizes two fans.

Ducted Split System: a Favorite Choice in Wine Cellar Cooling Installation in New Jersey

If you do not want any equipment to be visible in your wine room, the ducted split system is a great option. The evaporator and condenser are placed outdoors. In addition, this type of refrigeration system is recommended for small spaces because the unit does not occupy any in the cellar.

Since the components are placed outside the cellar, you can expect a quiet operation. Additionally, you do not have to worry about the exhaust room.

Ductless Split Cooling System

With the ductless split refrigeration system, the evaporator is installed in the wine room and the condenser outdoors.  Since these two components are connected by copper tubing and electrical wiring, no ductwork is required.

Replacing the Old Unit with an Efficient Wine Cooling System

On this project, we had to replace the existing climate-control unit with a system suitable for cooling a wine cabinet. The original cooling unit was installed by the previous contractor in the mechanical room.

We worked with the M&M Cellars Systems team, particularly with Mario Morales, the owner, and lead technician. They supplied the HS 6600 ductless split wine cabinet cooling system, which is a product of US Cellar Systems. It consists of the evaporator, coil, condensing fan, and compressor.

This type of refrigeration system is less expensive and easy to install because it does not require ductwork to achieve proper distribution of cool air and exhaustion of warm air.

We made sure that the refrigerant lines were welded in place. These lines are important because they consist of copper pipes, which connect the condenser coils to the evaporator coils. The evaporator was installed in the wine cellar cabinet, and the condenser (the noisier component of the cooling system) was placed outdoors. This resulted in a virtually quiet operation. All of US Cellar Systems products are manufactured with superior performance and efficiency.

Charging the Freon

Freon is the cooling agent used in refrigeration systems. On this particular installation project, the New Jersey experts had to charge the wine cellar cooling system with Freon.

Before that, Mario Morales conducted a pressure test. This test helped ensure that the cooling unit could handle the pressure as described by the product’s manufacturer.  Additionally, the pressure test also helped detect both the internal and external leaks in the wine cellar cabinet.
